Can I use a reverse camera during my PDA (Practical Driving Assessment)?

Yes, you are allowed to use a reverse camera during your Practical Driving Assessment (PDA). However, it's important to note that while the reverse camera can be a helpful aid, you are still expected to demonstrate proper observational techniques (Head checks and Blind Spots checks) and use your mirrors effectively. Relying solely on the reverse camera may not be sufficient. Ensure you perform all necessary head checks and maintain full awareness of your surroundings while reversing. This will help you meet the required safety and driving standards during your assessment.

How many lessons should I plan to take before I'm ready to pass my driving test and get my license?

The number of driving lessons required varies based on individual learning speeds and skills. In Western Australia, it's mandatory to complete 50 hours of supervised driving, including 5 hours of nighttime driving (unless you're 25 years old or above, in which case this requirement is waived). You must also be at least 17 years old and have held your learner's permit for a minimum of 6 months from the date of issue. Your driving instructor will assess your progress and readiness for the test. Practice outside of lessons, such as supervised driving with a licensed driver, can also help prepare you.

What paperwork do I need to bring with me for my driving lessons and when I take my driving test?

For driving lessons, you'll need your learner's permit and any logbook required to record your supervised driving hours. When you take your driving test, ensure you have your learner's permit, logbook (if applicable), and a bank card to pay for the practical driving assessment, whether you pass and need to pay for your license or fail and need to pay for a retest.

Am I able to select a specific instructor for my driving lessons, or will one be assigned to me?

Yes, you can choose a specific instructor at our driving school, provided their schedule permits.

What kind of vehicles do you use for driving lessons?

Our instructors use small to mid-sized cars equipped with dual controls for safety. These vehicles are designed to ensure your comfort and safety during lessons.

If I don't pass my driving test, what are the next steps? Will I need more lessons?

If you don't pass your driving test, you'll need to pay a re-sit fee, and there's a mandatory 7-day waiting period. Additional lessons may be recommended to enhance your skills before attempting the test again.

What is the payment method?

Payment is due at the beginning of each lesson and can be made via PayID (preferred), cash, or through BSB. If your lesson is to be paid by a third party, we will send an invoice to them, and the same payment methods apply.

Do you offer pick-up and drop-off services for lessons?

Yes, we provide pick-up and drop-off services within a 10-minute drive. If the drop-off location is farther, there may be an additional charge for extra distance, or we may need to shorten the lesson to ensure our instructors are punctual for their next appointment.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?

We require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations; otherwise, the full lesson fee will be charged. Exceptions are made for emergencies or if you are very ill.

Is there a dress code or any specific requirements for lessons?

Yes, we ask that you wear clean clothing and closed-toe shoes.

If my Practical Driving Assessment (PDA) is cancelled by the Department of Transport, what should I do?

Please inform your instructor immediately. If you provide more than 24 hours' notice, we can cancel the appointment at no cost. However, if less than 24 hours' notice is given, the appointment will convert to a 2-hour driving lesson charged at the rate of 2 standard lessons. This is because the car and instructor have been booked for your PDA, and the booking cannot be cancelled.

The next step is to gather the dates when your instructor is available. Contact the Department of Transport to inform them, and they will prioritise rescheduling your PDA, typically within 2 weeks. DO NOT re-book through the Department of Transport's website yourself, as this could forfeit your priority status.
